LAC Guidelines & Issues

For LAC release notes, see the following link – https://www.dmu-gmbh.at/en/products/releasenotes

The following requirements must always be met for smooth operation:

Please ensure that for retainer jobs, that the Xflow AI is processed and ordered successfully and returning production files (STL and PTS files) before you proceed to sending jobs to the LAC. This is a critical step that is required for the LAC to process the order successfully.

To manufacture retainers, you will need to follow the following steps:

  1. Create a Patient > Create a Case > Upload files into this case
  2. Process your Xflow AI to obtain production files:
Select ‘Create New Order’ > ‘Xflow AI’ > Configure your AI settings > follow screens to confirm order (the Xflow AI should take 5 minutes to produce the production files)
  3. Send your order to the LAC:
Once the production files are created > Create an Order > Select Retainer > Select Dental Axess AG – LAC > Select ‘Production Files’ (must be an STL and PTS file) > follow screens to confirm order
  4. The job should show up on the LAC dashboard if integration is correctly set up (see below for a guide on ensuring smooth operating of the LAC)

File requirements:

  • A production pair of STL and PTS files must be sent together for the LAC to process the job successfully.
  • The STL file must have a sufficient resolution. An STL file with too high a resolution will still work, but will take longer to calculate. As an ideal size for the STL file you can assume about 10MB.

Xflow AI trim path file outputs

  • The points of the PTS file must not be too far away from the surface of the STL file. There is a limit of 1.2mm. The same applies to points that are inside the model.
  • The points of the PTS file must not be too far away from each other. Ideally, there should be about 0.2mm between the points. The first and last points must also be as close to each other as possible.

Aligner model requirements:

  • The base of the model must have an absolutely flat bottom. Hollow models can be processed without any problems.
  • The model must not be changed after 3D printing. The physical model must match the digital data as closely as possible.
  • Thermoforming must be done with the optimal parameters for the respective material.

LAC requirements:

  • The suction unit filters must be changed regularly (according to the warning light on the LAC Suction Unit).
  • If the filters are too worn, the vacuum in the LAC may drop so low that it falls below a limit value.
  • The model and the aligner should only be separated with the LAC Separator (ideally with separating agent).
  • Separation with manual tools can lead to bending of the aligner and thus to errors of the LAC.

What happens in the event of an error?

In case of an error at a customer, the respective error code is to be searched for. For each error, the cause and possible solutions are described. If the error cannot be solved with the available descriptions, it must be forwarded to Dental Axess Support.

Basically, the STL and PTS files of the affected jobs should be retrieved from the Xflow portal.

[10000] An Error Occurred

Error description: An undefined error has occurred. This can be due to a bug or an unhandled issue within the software.
Solution: Check STL and PTS Files.

[10001] Processing failed. The clamp ring must be closed during cutting.

Error description: During the processing of the job, a sensor indicated that the clamp ring was opened.
Solution: You may not have closed the clamping ring tightly enough before starting the job. The clamping ring must always be closed completely and, if necessary, also with some force.

[10002] Processing failed. The safety door must be closed during cutting.

Error description: While the job was being processed, a sensor indicated that the safety door had been opened.
Solution: You may not have closed the safety door tightly enough before starting the job. The safety door must always be closed completely and, if necessary, with some force. When closing the safety door, the handle should always be gripped centrally.

[10003] Processing failed. The suction unit must be turned on during cutting.

Error description: During the processing of the job, a sensor indicated that the suction was not detected or too little vacuum was generated by the suction.
Solution: Change the LAC Suction Unit filters if necessary. The LAC Suction Unit must not be switched off during laser processing of the LAC.

[10004] Image acquisition failed.

Error description: Capturing an image by the internal camera has failed.
Solution: Switch off the LAC and switch it back on after about one minute.

[20201] The data could not be prepared for cutting. Please check that the trim line matches the model.

Error description: The data could not be processed because the points of the PTS are too far from the surface of the STL.
Solution: Check STL and PTS Files.

[20401] The data could not be prepared for cutting. The data points are not within the boundaries.

Error description: The data led to a collision of the positioning system with the laser tip when calculating the cutting path.
Solution: Trimline and/or model must be recalculated. The model must comply with the given conditions.

[20501] The model data did not match with the detected aligner. Please make sure the correct aligner is inserted.

Error description: The internal camera could not match the aligner to be cut with the data from STL and PTS.
Solution: Check whether you have inserted the correct aligner. The aligner must also have been thermoformed with a model that corresponds exactly to the digital STL. After 3D printing the STL, the model must not be changed or adjusted manually.
